Individuals taking SSRI's should
discontinue the medication for at least three weeks prior
to taking Meridia. Remember, you shjould not stop taking
any medication without consulting your doctor first
(especially antipressants which often require an
individual to be "weaned off" the antidepressant).

Additional Conditions
That Warrant Caution When Taking Meridia
In addition to the above mentioned
conditions individuals should also use caution when taking
reduction if they have a history of any of the following:
- Pulmonary hypertension

Allergies to sibutramine or any of the other
ingredients in Meridia.
- Cardiovascular disease i.e.
history of heart attack, stroke, coronary artery
disease, arrhythmia (irregular heart beat), congestive
heart failure, agina (chest pain), transient ischemic
attacks (TIAs).
- Epilepsy (any of various
neurological disorders characterized by sudden
recurring attacks of motor, sensory, or psychic
malfunction with or without loss of consciousness or
convulsive seizures).
- Liver disease
- Glaucoma (Any of a group of eye diseases
characterized by abnormally high intraocular fluid
pressure, damaged optic disk, hardening of the
eyeball, and partial to complete loss of vision).
- Kidney disease
- Alcohol or drug addition
- Eating disorders (anorexia nervosa, bulimia, etc.)
- Pheochromocytoma (a usually benign tumor of the
adrenal medulla or the sympathetic nervous system in
which the affected cells secrete increased amounts of
epinephrine or norepinephrine).
- Tourettes syndrome (which causes uncontrolled
movements and noises).
- Pregnant, planning to become
preganant, or breast feeding.
